Are Full Metal Airsoft Guns The Way To Go

Should you get a full metal airsoft gun? To answer this question, you need to take into account a few factors. Can you afford one? Do you need the durability they offer? Do you want the realism full metal airsoft rifles offer?

First, let me define what I consider to be a full metal rifle. To be considered full metal, an AEG needs to have a metal upper and lower receiver if its reel steel counter part has a metal upper and lower receiver. Not all firearms are all metal. For example, the the Echo 1 P90 has a polymer lower receiver. However, it's still considered a full metal because the real steel p90 has a polymer lower receiver.

Factors To Consider Before Buying Full Metal Airsoft Guns

Cost:

All metal airsoft guns cost more than there plastic counterparts. A full metal AEG will generally cost you 20% more than its plastic counterpart. There are many full metal guns that are more than 20% extra. These guns are more expensive primarily because of the internals and quality of its build.

Weight:

As you probably guessed, metal airsoft rifles have a lot of added weight. Many people like the extra weight because it adds to the relism. On the other hand, many people don't want to carry around a heavy gun. They would rather have a lighter rifle thats easy carry.

Durablity:

The metal makes the gun heavier, but it also makes it more durable. ABS plastic bodies on airsoft guns run the risk of cracking. With metal AEGs, you don't have to worry about this. Overall, full metal airsoft guns tend to last longer than ABS plastic guns. However, there are some AEGs that are made out of a high quality polymer. These guns will last longer than the ones made out of cheaper ABS plastic.

Realism:

One of the biggest reasons people like airsoft is for its realism. Plastic airsoft guns aren't very realistic. So if realism is a big deal, you definately need a full metal airsoft aeg.
