It doesn't really make the gearbox silent, the gears and motor make most of the noise. However it does make each shot deeper and not as high pitched, which is nice. Also the o-ring it comes with works perfect I got near perfect compression with it. It is a little pricey but well worth it. (Posted on 9/17/11)
